Initially scheduled around a yearly doctor appointment this weekend trip became a very full weekend.
Friday was a long day. Up at 1 am(AZ time) to drive unfamiliar country roads in the dark and get to an early flight. Which was pleasant. 3 hours waiting for bags and a rental car not so much.
I noted almost immediately that my allergies, which have been dormant the last 6 months came back within a few hours. Also a familiar tingle in my throat that I’ve had for years when I spend time in the central part of the valley. Pollution I’m sure. It only took a few hours back in Florida to go away.
One of my best and oldest friends, Karine ended up staying at the same hotel as me on her own visit to Arizona. We had a great dinner on Friday and met shortly a few other times. It was really nice to catch up. Even living on different coasts I feel we’ve bonded more than ever in the last year. Somewhat due to the shared experience in dealing with an exes personality disorder.
Saturday morning was our quarterly meeting at Black Rock Hosting. Rescheduled so I could be at it in person. Besides a productive and efficient meeting it was wonderful to see the two friends who make the company go.
I wasn’t able to make it to the Idiotarod. Which happened to be this weekend. It’s perhaps for the best as there could have been a triggering encounter. Or at least I’d have been on edge because of the possibility.
Saturday my sister Wendy drove up from Tuscon and we had a nice afternoon/evening taking a walk, chatting and had a good sushi dinner.
Sunday I spent much of the day with my friend Michelle who is going to Antarctica with me. While we can’t yet make solid plans, we have a good idea of what we’ll be doing. Next we’ll be virtually meeting our other travelers and deciding what are and are not group activities.
Monday I had a nice brunch with my friend Pam(pictured). It was unexpected as I didn’t think I could fit this much in. But real good. Followed by the doctors appointment this trip was scheduled for.
Finally, the company. Buddha, Tacky and I went to an arcade and played a VR game. We didn’t do so bad either 🙂
It was quite a busy social weekend and a good reminder that still have a lot of people in Arizona. 🙂
Now an experiment: The end goal of this blog is not only a self chronicle but to perhaps one day generate some income. Why not capitalize on being in a different port every few days? So I thought maybe an AI could help flush posts out or give general information so I don’t have to look it up every post.
Here is an experiment for Phoenix 🙂
